Catching up

It’s been a long time since I touched my website. I was taken aback at how long. I think it was before Covid, looking at the last book I’d added a page for. That was a weird time but let’s not go there.

So, what have I been up to? My editor currently has two manuscripts. One that is in pretty good shape and should be out in Spring 2025. That’s another fantasy (do we like the term ‘romantasy’? I’ve heard very mixed opinions on it. It has a title and we’re working through cover designs. The suggestions I’ve seen have been gorgeous and I can’t wait to see the final decision and share it.
The second went back a few weeks ago with edits and I’m waiting to hear what she thinks of it. That’s a Victorian set story about two women who decide to go into business together. Doing what? You’ll have to wait and see.

I’m currently working on a new book set during WW2, which is a period I haven’t touched for a while so I’m having to do a lot of re-reading of old notes as well as new aspects that weren’t relevant to that.

In other news, I have a new hip and am still signed off work. I’m 8 weeks post op today and it feels both slow and like I’ve been off for ages at the same time. Apparently lots of people go back to work around the 8 week mark but my query was met with a firm ‘not for teachers’ so I’ve got a few more weeks to go. I should probably be able to write a whole book but I’m surprised at how fuzzy my brain feels and how tired I get even walking to the park. The cats are very happy to have someone permanently sitting around though the dogs are annoyed I can’t get on the floor to give them belly rubs.

I am now part machine!

Elisabeth’s writing career began when she entered her first novel into Harlequin’s So You Think You Can Write contest in 2013 and finished in third place. She was offered a two-book contract and hasn’t looked back. Since then she has published six Medieval romances with Harlequin Mills & Boon and doesn’t have any plans to stop! Elisabeth works as a Primary teacher but she’d rather be writing full time because unlike five year olds, her characters generally do what she tells them. When she isn’t writing, she spends most of her spare time reading and is a pro at cooking one-handed while holding a book. She loves historical fiction and has a fondness for dark haired, bearded heroes. Elisabeth enjoys skiing, singing, and exploring tourist attractions with her family. Her children are resigned to spending their weekends visiting the past. She loves hot and sour soup and ginger mojitos - but not at the same time! She lives in Cheshire with her husband, two children and two cats with ridiculous names because the car broke down there in 1999 and she never left.
