Medieval Monday- Welcoming Barbara Bettis

Welcome to the first in a brand new Medieval Monday blog hop.

Today I’m delighted to welcome Barbara Bettis to the blog with an excerpt from

SILVERHAWK   — Knights of Destiny

You can find my excerpt from A Wager for the Widow on Barbara’s blog

He’s everything a proper lady should never want; she’s everything a bastard mercenary can never have.

Sir Giles has come to England to kill his father, who seduced and betrayed his mother. First, however, he’ll seek sweet revenge—kidnap the old lord’s new betrothed. But when Giles uncovers a plot against King Richard, he faces a dilemma: take the lady or track the traitors. What’s a good mercenary to do? Both, of course.

Lady Emelin has had enough. Abandoned in a convent by her brother, she finally has a chance for home and family. Yet now she’s been abducted. Her kidnapper may be the image of her dream knight, but she won’t allow him to spoil this betrothal. Her only solution: escape

Rescuing the intrepid lady—while hunting traitors—is a challenge Giles couldn’t anticipate.  But the greatest challenge to Giles and Emelin is the fire blazing between them.

teensy

(After not setting her eyes on her brother for years after he consigned her to a convent, Emelin at last comes face-to-face with Garley when he arrives for her wedding to the man he’s sold her to.)

Garley’s eyes blazed hatred when they landed on her and sent her spiraling back to a childhood fear. Against her will, the old uncertainty seared her new confidence. Would he force her to Compton if she didn’t satisfy Lord Osbert? Sell her to another rich lord? What would such a man be like? Lord Osbert, at least, was a known entity. And the child, Margaret. Emelin couldn’t leave her alone. Who knew what mischief she would get up to, just to gain attention?

Elisabeth’s writing career began when she entered her first novel into Harlequin’s So You Think You Can Write contest in 2013 and finished in third place. She was offered a two-book contract and hasn’t looked back. Since then she has published six Medieval romances with Harlequin Mills & Boon and doesn’t have any plans to stop! Elisabeth works as a Primary teacher but she’d rather be writing full time because unlike five year olds, her characters generally do what she tells them. When she isn’t writing, she spends most of her spare time reading and is a pro at cooking one-handed while holding a book. She loves historical fiction and has a fondness for dark haired, bearded heroes. Elisabeth enjoys skiing, singing, and exploring tourist attractions with her family. Her children are resigned to spending their weekends visiting the past. She loves hot and sour soup and ginger mojitos - but not at the same time! She lives in Cheshire with her husband, two children and two cats with ridiculous names because the car broke down there in 1999 and she never left. 1. Thanks for hosting me today, Elisabeth. I’m happy to be your guest
as we launch the next Medieval Monday. Unfortunately, for our Family theme, Emelin didn’t have a happy experience.
